Music always heals my heart and soul; This year, more than ever.
A Blaze Of Feather - I am a fan of Ben Howard's music and started listening to this band this year. I'm still discovering them. Dreamy, folky vibe to them, which I enjoy.
Cleo Sol - I am in love with this woman's soul & the way it shines through her music. There is not one song of hers that doesn't make my heart sing.
SAULT - I was obsessed with this band for most of 2025; Cleo Sol is the lead singer (one of them anyway).
Lianne La Havas
Soulwax - I magically rediscovered this band years after being introduced to them by a very important person in my life – who sadly passed away – with their album Nite Versions. I had forgotten how much I love that album. That album was released in 2005, but they have done some kick ass stuff since then. Here's to sweet blasts from the past.
Olivia Dean - Love love her version of Dy-Na-Mi-Tee.
ELIZA - Another leading lady I listened to on repeat this year. Alone & Unafraid ALWAYS puts a smile on my face and gets me moving. So uplifting. And she is amazing in the video.
Kokoroko - Such a cool band. I got to see them live at The Bikini in Toulouse
Little Simz - I've known of her for a while, and I had heard some songs that I really dig (her own and some collabs), but I didn't get into her until I listened to her album Lotus. I am now a big fan.
Tame Impala - Binged on all his albums this year.
Radiohead - I've been a fan from the start; they are fixtures on many of my playlists.
The Smile - Radiohead 2.0, Radiohead Extended. I like it.
Fred Again - I knew of him, and some of his songs (particularly Dancing), but I truly saw and discovered this human on a (not so) random Tiny Desk Concert. Magical... Soul shaker.
Caribou - I've been listening to Dan Snaith and his band for years, and they never made it on this list. Shameful :)
Bonobo - Another artist I am a big fan of and listen to on the regular, that I somehow never mentioned on this list, I believe.
Greentea Peng
Trinity Roots
Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso – They showed up on my YouTube feed randomly, and I got hooked. I like their off-the-wall style. I really dig some of their older stuff. The Fred Again collab is amazing.
Erykah Badu – Always. The leading lady of all leading ladies. Been there since Baduizm. I would love to see her live.
Bodhiria – She showed up as recommended songs after listening to one of Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso's albums, and she got my attention. I like her vibe.
D'Angelo – I've been listening to him for years. He's part of that crew of artists (Erykah, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, Jill Scott, The Fugees, Maxwell...) who accompanied me throughout my teens and twenties. I was very sad to hear that he had passed away this year (along with Angie Stone, sadly)
The Internet – I've been listening to them since 2019-20 (they were definitely a big part of my time spent in quarantine). Such a cool band, they haven't released an album in a while, though, but what's out there is rad.
Eve – I hadn't listened to her in ages, and I had so much fun revisiting her albums. Some of the skits on Eve-Olution had me dying laughing again –savage.
Syd – I guess I missed that Syd went solo after The Internet took a hiatus. I enjoyed spending some of 2025 going through her music collection.
Pip Millett – Very cool sound indeed.
This list is in no way exhaustive. Music is the best companion as far as I'm concerned.
